Description
Ernie Maxwell needed a trail to get his horses into town. Being a popular person in these neck of the woods brought the people together to ease the pain that they had to endure on their trek to the center of the community. The trail was completed and opened in the late 1980's. It's a 2.5 mile sightseeing tour that runs around the base of Tahquitz Rock (Lily Rock) in the San Jacinto Mountains, and has some beautiful views into Strawberry Valley.
I love the shaded areas along the path. Lots of manzanitas, ponderosas, and a few redwoods like this. The canopy keeps the hiker cool and has some great resting places along the walk. It invites you to come along.
