A view from the foothills around the Sierra Nevada Mountains across to the Inyo Mountains and the tip of the Owens Dry Lake Bed.
It was a quiet December morning when we ventured the drive through the Mojave Desert to the eastern Sierras. I was standing in the Alabama Hills, just below the Whitney Portal when I took this photograph facing eastward. Death Valley is located on the other side of those mountains. This is also the area where the John Muir Wilderness Trail comes to an end. The little town of Lone Pine is just out of view.
I have re-imagined the photograph into a painting. Use the High Resolution Preview for a closer look at the brushstroke texture finish.
