Description
In the southern part of Joshua Tree National Park is this beautiful garden of Cholla Cactus. Amazing how nature/creation takes this role of dazzling our eyes. Don't even need special effects or man made slight of hand for your jaw to drop. As beautiful as it is...the Cholla Cacti are covered with no ordinary spines - each individual spine has hundreds of microscopic backwards-pointing barbs. The slightest accidental brush against a plant causes the spines to stick and the only way they will travel is INTO you. One visitor bumped into one and a whole arm seemed to leap into their shoe instantly. An amazing protective device. They are also great for photographic splendor. Enjoy.

Springtime is a wonderful time to visit the desert flora, and it seems you were introduced to beautiful signs that “Spring Has Sprung,” such as with the delightful Teddy Bear Cholla or Jumping Cholla Cactus. They are just as you described. They produce such unique blooms for our pleasure. I love the dense spines, giving it that soft look from a distance, but quite the opposite up close. LF Janet 💕
