Description
This is a full front view of the Griffith Observatory, on a typical Sunday Afternoon, in 2017. The people come and go in droves from opening to closing. I'm surprised they're not parachuting in, because the parking is atrocious! They are frozen in time from the entry walkway to the observatory rooftop observation area. Placed in perfect poses for the scene.
I caught it on a hazy Los Angeles day from Mount Hollywood. Yes, the Hollywood sign is but a short trail away to the west of the site.
The landmark "art deco" structure is a planetarium, museum, and theater of historical science and discovery. The observatory was featured in two major sequences of the James Dean film Rebel Without a Cause, as well as many other films, including Terminator Salvation in 2009. It is an official Los Angeles Historical Landmark.
