Description
Shea's Castle is a mysterious tucked away place located in the Antelope Valley of California. "The 6,000-square-foot castle was a showplace at the time of its construction in 1924 and 1925. But for most of the years since, and even today, owners have kept it secluded behind miles of metal fence, making it perhaps one of Southern California's most overlooked landmarks." ~ Los Angeles Times, 1991
Quite a few movies have filmed here, and Roy Rogers used the facilities many years ago to train his horse Trigger. Very few residents of the area even know of it's existence. I'm aware of it because I knew a caretaker that once lived there and was invited for dinner and a personal tour of the residence. An amazing place built with some inspiration from William Randolph Hearst.
I've finished this photograph with a painted simulation. Use the full resolution preview for detailed look at the finished product.
