Description
Silverwood Lake was formed by the 249-foot Cedar Springs Dam. Located in the San Bernardino Mountains at 3,350 feet, it is the highest reservoir in the State Water Project. The park features hiking trails (including part of the 2650 mile Pacific Crest Trail), swimming beaches and areas for boating, water-skiing and fishing. The lake has trout, large mouth bass, catfish and bluegill. It also attracts waterfowl, raptors and songbirds. Canada Geese and an occasional bald eagle can be seen in the area.
I came to this scenic vista via State Highway 173. A wonderful snow fall had happened the evening before, dusting the lower hills but closing the highway that leads further into the mountains and Lake Arrowhead. The photograph was taken with a Kodak EasyShare C191 Compact. Finished it off with a bit of computer wizardry.
