Description
The Hotel President was constructed during the same construction boom that brought Kansas City many other great structures. The brick building was completed in 1926. The hotel's Drum Room lounge attracted entertainers from across the country, including Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, the Marx Brothers, and even the Great Houdini.
After closing and going through a massive renovation the hotel reopened as the Hilton President Hotel. The Drum Room is still considered a destination point to many travelers .
I have to admit to knowing nothing of these things when I took this photo. But I recognize great and historical architecture when I see it. It was really the nostalgic feeling to the scene that jumped out at me. In 2014 this seems more reminiscent of what you might have seen in the 1930's.
The finishing touches and textures in Black and White brought it all together. I hope that you will agree.
