The John Matthews soda fountain stood out in the small museum. The ornate design in marble was a fitting memory to when the soda parlor was a magical place to gather for the young and old. Seeing the detail involved in the making of this relic made me long for a return to when quality and pride of craftsmanship was more important than quantity and money. The folks of a bygone era cared a great deal about the way their work reflected on their name.
