Description
I photographed the beautiful Bell Tower, from the garden side of the church structure, in 2013. I just have a thing for these old missions and their architecture.
The Franciscan Mission Santa Barbara was founded in 1786. The present building was the fourth and built in 1820. An earthquake in 1925 damaged the building and restoration of it was completed in 1927. It's an incredible setting overlooking the city and Ocean. The grounds and gardens are also beautiful. Tours through the church history are available.
