Description

Highway 243 is part of the State Scenic Highway System of the State Of California. I think of it as a bit of the High Sierras located in Southern California. This little snippet of the route causes me to think about what lies just around the curve. The rolling landscape is dotted with Manzanita Trees, Bottlebrush trees, Junipers and Yuccas.

The mountain town of Idyllwild is known as an art center of sorts. It's a mild nightlife town with small restaurants that offer good food and evening entertainment among the pines. It is also home to the Idyllwild Arts Academy, a college preparatory program for grades 9-12 and post-graduates, with training in music, theater, dance, visual art, creative writing, film, and interdisciplinary arts.

I love the area for it's hiking and relaxation with scenic views. They also boast my favorite Ice Cream Store!
