Description
This is a photograph taken at Paramount Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountain Recreation Area of Agoura, California. Tragically, this and all the structures (except the church building) were burned down during the California Woolsey fires of 2018.
The Ranch was once 2700 acres of prime filming area for Paramount Pictures to film on location. In those many years of film history, this site has posed as Tombstone, Arizona and Dodge City, Kansas. A while back, Ringo Starr and Buck Owens filmed their country & western video, "Act Naturally". The 50's epic "Gunfight At The OK Corral" starring Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster was shot (pun intended) here.
I'm glad to have this memory to share. Restoration efforts are underway as of 2020.
This is a companion work to my "Western Town, Paramount Ranch " The link is here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/western-town-paramount-ranch-glenn-mccarthy-art-and-photography.html
